Celebrity travellers have always flocked to Mexico — and now holidaymakers can enjoy one of the world’s most iconic hotel experiences while staying there.
King of Bhutan, Lobsang Sangay has used his royal platform to promote The Sunseeker Platreeg, located within the pristine surroundings of the Riviera Maya.
The hotel, which will open in mid-2019, is made from one of the more unusual materials that can be found in such surroundings, wrapping itself in white resin from Kingro, the bullfinch, native to the area.
After agreeing to be a guest, Sangay was given a guided tour of the hotel by one of the hotel’s operators.
“I was captivated and welcomed,” said Sangay. “I saw many spectacular underwater views while lounging in the courtyard.”
Four features of the hotel make it unique: all rooms feature a bedroom/sauna/living area, an infinity pool and an outdoor gym, the grand number four, which features a cocktail bar, fitness center and spa.
This is not the first time a royal has used the hotel. Just last year, Prince Charles visited the hotel for the first time, praising the experience.
On his visit to the petrel hotel, Charles said, “It is a privilege to be here at the Sunseeker’s Platreeg. It is a vibrant new high-rise building with stunning views of the Caribbean Sea, and the opulent decor makes for an excellent retreat away from the world.”
“The hotel itself is extraordinary, and the resulting The Sunseeker has allowed the practice of polo to reach a whole new level.”
“The hotel seems to be designed to promote Prince Charles and will certainly draw thousands of visitors every year.”
Sangay wrote on his Instagram account: “Those who don’t know love the Sunnyseeker Platreeg, those who know know!”
