Foo Fighters cancel Abu Dhabi concert due to 'medical issues'

“Due to unforeseen medical circumstances, the Foo Fighters have cancelled their upcoming date in Abu Dhabi on Feb. 15,” the band said in a statement issued on Monday.

On the Foo Fighters’ official website, the band credits the incident as a “serious health emergency.”

Band member Nate Mendel, who left the band because of undisclosed “medical issues,” said via a statement that he would fully recover and would be at a press conference on Tuesday to announce the next four Foo Fighters tour dates.

This is not the first time Foo Fighters have canceled a concert due to health concerns, as a series of incidents have forced the band to cancel shows during the past decade.

In 2006, bassist Timothy “Foo” Boswell was rushed to a local hospital following an unexpected seizure.

Bassist Chris Shiflett was forced to cancel a date with the band at London’s House of Vans as well as live shows throughout Europe that same year due to a “private health issue.”

The following year, drummer Taylor Hawkins was rushed to a hospital during the European tour, but later said in a statement that he would be “home soon” after being treated for blood clots in both lungs.

Foo Fighters began their U.S. tour in Chicago in December with dates in the country set through February of this year.
