Young U.S. soccer team aims to realize potential at Qatar World Cup

HIGHLAND PARK, N.J. (AP) — In the summer of 2022, the U.S. national team will be the favorite team in the women’s soccer tournament that will crown the first World Cup.

Now the team is working to build itself a soccer team.

The U.S. women’s national team has been on a training trip to Qatar since Dec. 8, the first stop in what promises to be a 12- to 18-month trip. The U.S. will play in four World Cup events in four years, starting with the 2018 World Cup, which will be hosted by France, and ending in October 2022, when the U.S. will play the women’s Olympic soccer tournament.
